Reed Awakening is a soulful, funky, classy live band featuring tenor sax and trumpet with keys, bass, and drums. We deliver recognizable 60s/70s/80s soul, funk and classic rock in a high-energy dance set that works for clubs, corporate events, and festivals. Sax-Flute / Mike Merrill

A long-time Alaskan saxophonist, this musician brings a bold, soulful voice to the intersection of funk, rock, and soul. Known for expressive melodies, high-energy improvisation, and a deep connection to Alaska’s creative music community. Having played with many bands’ past (Little Mickey and the Mustangs featuring the Bel-Air-Horns, Alaska Rhythm and Blues Society) and present (Leo Ash Blues Band, Konnexion) comes the experience and know how to work the crowd and keep them coming back for more.

Keys / Anan Siack

Anan is a local anchorage alaska musician that has been working in the scene roughly for two years. I have played for many venues like town square for Showdown, Refuge Coffee, Humpys etc… Anan is in a couple of bands including Evil Wizard, A Town Sharps, Jokers Wild, and The Ochre Band. He hopes to play music for the rest of his life and make it full time if possible.

Percussion / Dean Reaves

This southern drummer born into a musical family has been playing gigs his entire life. Landing in Alaska at the turn of the millennium he has been a staple in the local music scene keeping the groove for the likes of Lulu Small, Gary Slone, T. Harvey Combo to name a few. Adding percussion to the many grooves covered by Reed Awakening tops the sound off perfectly.
